The U.S. is the most popular destination for Bangladeshi students going abroad, and F-1 interviews continue as normal at the U.S. Embassy in Dhaka. Here's the full path, in order.
Step by step
- Shortlist universities by program, cost and funding. Free advising is available through EducationUSA.
- Take the tests each program asks for: an English test (TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo or PTE, as accepted) and, where required, the SAT, GRE or GMAT.
- Apply, including for financial aid or assistantships at the same time.
- Accept an offer and receive your I-20 from the university.
- Pay the SEVIS I-901 fee (USD 350).
- Complete the DS-160 form, listing every social media handle you've used in the last five years.
- Pay the visa application (MRV) fee (USD 185) and book your interview.
- Attend the interview in person at the U.S. Embassy in Dhaka.
What it costs
Your I-20 lists the university's estimate for one year: tuition plus living costs. Public universities often total USD 35,000 to 60,000 a year and private ones more, but scholarships and assistantships can cut that sharply. See full scholarships in the USA.
The F-1 interview
The interview is short, often just a few minutes. Expect questions about your university choice, your funding and sponsor, and your plans after graduation. Since June 2025, applicants must set their social media accounts to public.

Stamplio runs a mock F-1 interview built from your own details (university, funding, family), then gives you plain written feedback. Try a practice interview
Visa rules and fees were checked in October 2026 and can change at short notice. Always follow the official embassy and government pages. Stamplio is a practice tool: it can't predict or influence a visa decision.
