Student visa interviews for Bangladeshi applicants take place at the U.S. Embassy in Dhaka. Bangladesh isn't on the U.S. travel restriction lists, and F-1 interviews continue as normal.
Before your appointment
- Receive your I-20 and pay the SEVIS I-901 fee (USD 350).
- Complete the DS-160, listing all social media handles from the last five years.
- Set your social media accounts to public (required for student visa applicants since June 2025).
- Pay the MRV fee (USD 185) and book through the official appointment system linked from the embassy website.
- Book as early as you can. Visas can be issued up to a year before your program starts.
Questions Bangladeshi students often hear
- Why this university, and where else were you admitted?
- Who is your sponsor, what do they do, and what is their yearly income?
- How many siblings do you have, and who else does your sponsor support?
- What will you do in Bangladesh after you graduate?
- Why not study this subject in Bangladesh?
More examples are in F-1 visa interview questions.
Tips
- Know your sponsor's income and assets in taka and dollars.
- Explain family business or land income simply and consistently with your papers.
- Have a concrete plan for returning, such as a role, an industry or a family business you'll join.
- Use only the official embassy website and appointment system; avoid agents who promise visas.
